What the AI does
Dogetlawyer uses artificial intelligence to help you draft supported legal documents, review supported employment and business contracts (issue-spotting and plain-English explanation), answer questions about UK legal topics with cited sources, summarise documents, and prepare document briefs. Outputs are AI-generated legal information and drafting assistance, not legal advice, and they have not been reviewed or approved by a regulated legal professional unless the Service expressly says a professional review has taken place.
How it works
- Your request (and, where needed, the document being worked on) is processed by leading third-party AI models via their business APIs — currently Microsoft Azure OpenAI, Anthropic and Google Gemini, with Perplexity used by the "Legal Basis & Sources" feature to retrieve real statutes and cases — combined with our own legal knowledge architecture: document structures, clause playbooks, review rules and risk classifications built for UK use.
- Outputs are generated in seconds and shown to you for review — you stay in control of what is kept, edited or discarded.
- For anything important, one click books an independent professional through Tele-legal to review the result. AI speed, human judgement.
What the AI cannot do
- It can make mistakes — including confident-sounding ones. Always read what it produces; never treat an output as final without review where review is reasonably required.
- It does not know your full circumstances and cannot weigh commercial or personal factors the way a professional advising you would.
- It covers supported document types and topics, focused on England and Wales unless labelled otherwise; outside those, treat answers as general information only.
- It does not create a solicitor–client relationship. Using the AI does not itself create legal professional privilege; material that was already privileged may retain its status, but uploading it to any third-party technology provider carries confidentiality risks that professional users must assess first.
- Its outputs do not carry the regulatory protections, professional duties or insurance protections that may apply when advice is provided by an SRA-regulated solicitor or another regulated legal professional.
Your data and the AI
- Content is sent to AI providers only to generate the feature you asked for, over encrypted connections.
- We do not use your documents or chats to train AI models, and we use API services whose terms state that business API content is not used to train the provider's foundation models. We do not sell your content.
- Deleting a chat or document removes it from your workspace on our systems — retention detail, including backups and what the law requires us to keep, is in the Privacy Policy and Your Data Rights.
- No solely automated decision with legal or similarly significant effects is made about you by the Service.
Our AI transparency status — stated honestly
- United Kingdom: there is no UK "AI Act". The UK currently regulates AI through existing laws and sector regulators (data protection, consumer protection, legal-services regulation) — the rules described across our Privacy Policy and Terms.
- European Union: the EU AI Act's transparency obligations for providers and deployers of certain AI systems (Article 50) apply from 2 August 2026 where an AI system is placed on, or its output is used in, the EU market. Consistent with its aims, we tell you plainly that you are interacting with AI and that content is AI-generated — and we keep our EU obligations under review as guidance develops.
- Continuous review: we test and refine our prompts, playbooks and review rules against real document types, and correct issues when users report them.
When to bring in a human
Book an independent professional through Tele-legal — or your own adviser — before acting on anything important, urgent, high-value or contested: disputes and litigation, property transactions, business acquisitions, regulated filings, and any matter where a deadline (such as a limitation period) may be running. Independent professionals listed on Tele-legal are not Dogetlawyer employees, and their advice is their own — see the Terms, section 10.
