Professional accountability is part of the workflow

Professional accountability is part of the workflow.

The SRA's AI warning notice addresses inaccurate outputs and confidentiality risks. The BSB's technology guidance covers competence, adoption procedures, duties to clients and personal responsibility. These remain professional obligations when AI assists with preparation.

The Early Access workflow (synthetic-data walkthroughs only; not yet in customer use) therefore makes room for source checking, supervision and explicit professional decisions. It does not turn a software output into regulator-approved work or remove the need to assess confidentiality before processing client information.

Why checking authorities matters

In the combined Ayinde and Al-Haroun judgment, [2025] EWHC 1383 (Admin), the Divisional Court examined actual or suspected AI use producing unchecked material, including false citations. At paragraphs 7–8, it explained the professional duty to check AI-assisted research against authoritative sources, including when relying on another person's work. The practical lesson is to preserve a reviewable route to the authority and verify what it supports before using it professionally.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How do I explore Early Access?
Early Access — synthetic-data walkthroughs only; customer rollout planned.
Can I upload confidential client papers for a demo?
Use synthetic material first. Before a private pilot, confirm the applicable data-processing arrangements, access scope, providers, retention and your professional obligations.
Does the AI replace my professional judgement?
No. Preparation and draft analysis remain subject to appropriate review. The professional remains responsible for the work delivered to the client or court.
Does the page cover Scotland or Northern Ireland?
Initial professional legal workflows described here focus on England and Wales. Other UK jurisdictions require separately released materials and workflow validation.
Is it a complete replacement for our practice-management system?
Early Access (synthetic-data walkthroughs only; not yet in customer use) demonstrates a connected legal preparation and assurance layer built around existing modules. Assess the actual feature scope and integrations against your practice's requirements.
Do I need an Outlook account?
The signup design supports lawyers with and without Microsoft accounts. Optional integrations are separate from platform access, plan entitlements and professional verification.
Must I create a public professional profile?
A private practice workspace and a public Telelegal profile serve different purposes. Public listing is a separate choice with its own verification and terms.
Is the platform SRA or BSB certified?
No such certification is claimed here. The review design is intended to support responsible use; professionals must assess the tool and their own obligations for each use case.
Will it send documents or issue invoices automatically?
The Early Access workflow (synthetic-data walkthroughs only; not yet in customer use) requires the appropriate authorised decision before external action. Billing, document release and other operations must continue through their owning modules.
